Enemy Encounter #1

Today's devlog I'll be talking about the first "enemy" type you encounter - the Meat Machine.

In the setting of the not-so-distant future of the game the first "level" you'll be exploring is the Call Center. Endless rows of tiny, filthy cubicles fill this mazelike floor, and if you're not careful with where  you're going the management might get a little... angry. It won't be difficult to do that though as you'll begin to quickly start spending your time exploring the seemingly empty call center instead of working.

Why's that? Well... over time those hourly numbers you have to hit will start increasing to the point where you'll need some new implants to keep up with the speed. The company, quite graciously, offers trade-ins. Simply trade in part of your daily wages and they'll supply you with company branded implants. If you don't have the cash, you can trade in some flesh. Eventually the offer of having a new, more compact metal body that supplies you with all your needs so you can continue working those endless shifts becomes pretty dang enticing … and before you know it, you've become a Meat Machine, unable to ever leave your station ever again.

The Meat Machine Manager, shown here, is an incredibly powerful foe that will easily subdue anyone - or thing - that negatively impacts their weekly numbers. Trip security alarms one too many times, bother the other "employees" or enter management only areas will cause this big boy (or girl...or thing...) to start seeking you out. If sneaking around and hacking into the networks to get the credentials you need to escape ain't your thing you can always spec into physical skills and let your fists do the dirty work because as you know, under capitalism there is no unethical violence.
